DEAR GROEZINGER CUSTOMER,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! We’re baaaaack!! We hope that you all had a great holiday and blew substantial holes in your cellars and didn’t make any crazy New Years resolutions like “I’m going to quit drinking” or “this year I think I’ll switch to hard alcohol only.” That’s because we’re kicking this year off with a bang. We know from reading the newspapers that you didn’t blow your entire wad at Macy’s this Christmas, and that must have been because you were saving your money for more important things, like wine from Groezinger’s. You were, right? We made some resolutions of our own this year. We promise to offer you wines that are of the highest quality, representing the best bang for your buck in any price range. We know things are tough out there, and you could buy wine from any of those other hacks, so our new motto is “we’ll taste the bad wines so you’ll never have to.” Plus, we want your business, and contrary to popular belief, we value our jobs. You might be wondering things, “how can I get a job where I get to drink wine all day?” and “why would anyone buy wine from anywhere besides Groezinger’s?”, but the question on most people’s minds in this time of year is . . . “Does Groezinger’s still have that phenomenal 3 case shipping deal?” You bet your handle of Maker’s Mark we do.
WE SHIP ANYWHERE EXCEPT UTAH UPS IS AVAILABLE TO AK, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, HI, ID, IA, IL, LA, MI, MO, MN, NC, ND, NE, NH, NV, NY, NM, OH, OR, SC, TX, VA, WA, WV, WI & WY for about $25-$50 a case depending on how far away you are from us. Overnight, 2-Day, and 3-Day services are available to the above states at an additional cost. $60 for 1 case, $90 for two cases, and $100 for three cases going to the very few non-UPSable states, OR for those of you that prefer receiving your wine via bootlegger (it’s cheaper on big orders). A $10 residential delivery fee is waived on purchases of 3 cases or more. We prefer shipping to businesses because you’re never home and we need a signature.

FEATURED RED WINES
Warning: There is Mature Content in the Hendry review. If you’re easily offended, then skip it and go to Snowden.
2005 HENDRY VINEYARDS, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley–$50.00
Yo, times are rough and so is your mom, pick up the phone and we’ll send you the bomb…. George is blowin’ up the hood with his new Oh-5, makes you feel so good you’ll quit beatin’ your wife…… When you drink George’s Cab you’ll be chugging it fast, when you suck on his dick you’ll be tasting your ass…… George Hendry is the Mack and his wine is the shit, every time you suck it down you’ll be playing with tits…… Girls love it most and it makes them hot, they do what you want like a Stepford robot….. Hendry Cabernet gives you super human powers, one seven-fifty keeps it up for five hours…. The vineyard was planted back before seventy-five when these punk winemakers weren’t even alive…. It’s one hundred percent, it don’t need no blend, when stick it in your mouth the flavorz never end…Crack the bottle open and start yourself a party, don’t drink nothin’ else cuz it’ll just taste watery…Seriously though, this stuff is the best, get yourself a box and forget about the rest…..Crack a bottle open it’s as thick as molasses and it works like fly paper for super-fine asses……. Buy some from now us or George will come and pop a Cab in your ass.
2006 SNOWDEN VINEYARDS, Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley–$72.00
It was just about a year ago when Snowden rocked the wine world with the release of their 2005 Reserve Cab. It’s time to get rocked again. Like 95 points from Parker getting rocked again. Only 700 cases of this rugged hillside wine were produced. A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, and 5% Cabernet Franc was put together my winemaking prophet and phenolic genius, David Ramey. Like a teenage runaway, this wine could live to be twenty years old if not abused too much. Not to sound criminal, but you should take this youngster down to your basement, leave it there until it has a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome and loves you, then bring it upstairs and kill it. That’s a cutting edge review and we hope you’re gonna bite down hard on this one. What does it taste like? It tastes like blackberries covered in black cherry juice dusted by espresso grind followed by delicate oak lightly accented with nuances of herb coated roasted meat and plum reduction sauce with shaved dark bittersweet chocolate and pencil lead.
It’ll be great kicking back in 2021 sucking down some ‘06 Snowden looking back at this whole repression thing and thinking, “That wasn’t that bad, I should have bought more Snowden back then cuz this stuff is killer. I wonder where I can get it since Groezinger’s went belly up. Those guys were cool. I really should have bought more from them.”
2006 STORYBOOK MOUNTAIN, “ANTAEUS”, Estate Red Wine, Napa Valley–$36.50
Here’s a spectacular wine in a category of its own made specifically for people that love Zinfandel or Cabernet or Bordeaux styled blends incorporating Zinfandel, or for those who just like big and structured red wines. The blend is composed of 57% Zinfandel, 30% Cab Sauv, 7% Petit Verdot, and 6% Merlot and only 800 cases were produced. Ever had a Zin that could use a blast of structure? Ever had a Cabernet that could use to be softened up? Like Reese’s Peanut Butter CupsTM, here’s two great things that go great together. Zin and Cab! Jerry Seps invented this awesome blend a few years ago and our Zinfandel department hasn’t been the same since. How can other Zins compete with the girth and power of Antaeus? They can’t. It’s like giving Michael Jordan a wig and a boob-job and putting him in the WNBA. It’s like giving Sigourney Weaver a penis. It’s like taking the best Napa Zinfandel and crossing it with awesome hillside Cabernet to create a super California highbred red.
2007 CANDELA, Pinot Noir, Mission Ranch, Monterey–$24.00
There are a few things a poopy economy can do for the wine biz. 1.) The sales of super-expensive wines slow down. Does that mean the delicious and expensive juice just goes away or waits in a warehouse? Nope. Wine that would be $60.00 a bottle gets redirected into under-$30.00 labels providing wonderful wines at great prices to anyone lucky enough to still have thirty bucks. 2.) Cheap wines get better. This big, bold and impressive Pinot is made by MIURA, in fact it’s their second label. Wineries still make money but can’t use the G-5 as much. This high roller is dark and heady, with a vibrant nose of wild cherries and strawberry jam. The flavors are nearly as full as their $65 wines giving you a great wine for cheap. In the winery, it’s what is known as trickle down.
2005 PAUL HOBBS, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley–$82.50 (continued from above)
3.) Makes available to us wines that used to be sold only in restaurants. Wow! For the first time in years we’re able to offer you some PAUL HOBBS CAB. This wine puts you in the game more than a Wii 4X. From Beckstoffer, Hyde, and Stagecoach vineyards, this wine is a benchmark for super-limited ultra-premium Napa Cabernet. You’ll be playing hard and fast when you get the home field advantage on this formerly untouchable superstar.
FEATURED WINES OF THE WORLD
2004 ALTOCEDRO, “Des Nudos”,Old Vine Malbec/Temperanillo Blend, Mendoza, Argentina-$85.00
Pay attention here, people. Altocedro has rapidly become one of the top producers of red wine in the southern hemisphere, and people like Parker, Tanzer, the Spectator, Rick, and Justin have sat up and taken notice. This is truly one of the most remarkable wines we’ve offered in a long time, so don’t be an idiot skip it just because it’s not from Napa. Minute quantities of grapes are harvested from 85+ year old Malbec and Temperanillo grapes are harvested from a single vineyard at roughly 6500 ft. elevation. Now that’s what we call mountain fruit!! The wine is massive, seamless, and so complex we can’t even begin to describe it. It is so dark in color that it creates a black-hole like vortex in your glass that even light can’t escape. Less than 100 cases of this wine were made, and if you don’t at least try to procure some, well, frankly, you suck and should go back to grade school. It’s that good. Sorry this review isn’t funny, but this wine is no laughing matter. Tuck this beauty away and it’ll age an easy 20+ years. This is the real cult.
2000 CHATEAU MUSAR, Blanc, (Indigenous White Varietals), Bekaa Valley, Lebanon-$38.00
1999 CHATEAU MUSAR, Rouge, (Cabernet/Cincault/Carignan), Bekaa Valley, Lebanon-$58.00
Let us let you in on a little secret, Chateau Musar is considered by many in the know to be one of the greatest wineries on the face of the planet. And yes, it’s from Lebanon. Get over it, they’ve been growing grapes there for over six thousand years. Founded in 1930 by the Bordeaulais Hochar family, Musar has been crafting wine in the land of milk and honey for three generations. The white is crafted from Obeideh and Merwah grapes, and has all the chalky minerality, steely acidity, and honeyed fruit of a top flight Bordeaux blanc. The red is the color of a dark Burgundy, but packs in all the rigid structure, firm tannins, deep fruit, earthy complexity, and rustic charm of a top tier Bordeaux. These wines are aged a minimum of seven years before release, and will age indefinitely. If you don’t believe us, check the Parker history, as he routinely dishes out 95+ point scores for these rare and unique wines. I’m going out on a limb with these, so don’t embarrass me by not buying some. And you noticed the price, no? Open your minds, folks.
2006 CHATEAU TEYSSIER “GRAND DESTIEU”, St. Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux Rouge, France-$45.00
This is how hard we are trying to please you. Want a 93 point rated Bordeaux from an excellent vintage for under fifty bucks? You got it. You’d be hard pressed to find a wine of this pedigree at this price from Napa (other than the ones in this newsletter, thank you very much), a showcase of old vine Merlot lifted with Franc. Alluring and mysterious as an expensive French brothel, this beauty seduces with the heady perfume of black raspberries, crushed orange blossom, pipe tobacco and sex before it parts the velvet curtains and takes you upstairs for a mouthful of black cherry, ripe plum, cassis liqueur and more sex. The special finish is so long and satisfying you may need to have a cigarette when you’re done. You can lap this baby up now in it’s youth or lay her down a few years until she learns a few more tricks. What ever you do, don’t just stand aside and wonder what kind of pleasures other customers are having.
FEATURED WHITE WINES
2006 HdV, Chardonnay, Hyde Vineyard, Los Carneros, Napa Valley-$60.00
HdV is not a blood borne illness. It’s a spectacular Chardonnay that will appeal to the biggest Burg hounds and California Chard freaks alike. This project represents the partnership between Carneros winegrowing pioneer Larry Hyde and Burgundian superstar (and Domaine Romanee-Conti co-director) Aubert de Villaine, two guys who know how to handle Chardonnay. Ultra rich yet focused and bright, flavors and aromas range from ripe pear, apricot, almond, tropical fruits and crushed wet stone. There is ample sweet, toasted vanilla and plenty of acidity to maintain balance. It ain’t exactly cheap, but it’s well worth the dough, and it’s a helluva a lot cheaper than Montrachet.
2007 ADASTRA, Chardonnay, Los Carneros, Napa Valley-$33.00
Adastra Chardonnay is one of our perennial favorites as well as yours. This is the wine equivalent of methadone to get people off of Rombauer. Flavors and aromas burst with green apple and citrus blossom with just the right kiss of new French oak and snappy acidity. The vineyard is organically farmed and only 596 cases were made, making it a truly artisanal product far superior to similarly priced mass produced wines of this varietal from this appellation. Get it?
2006 SPRING MOUNTAIN VINEYARD, Sauvignon Blanc, Spring Mountain District, Napa-$31.00
Along with the De Sante Old Vine and the Mayacamas, we consider this one of the finest Sauvignon Blancs in the Valley. No room left for elaborate descriptions, so call us at 800 356 3970 and we’ll tell you all about it. Cheers y’all.
